Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Advance School mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who this App is for
The App is a school communication and management tool for authorized users such as students, parents/guardians, teachers, and school staff. Access is provided through school-issued or school-approved accounts.
2. Information we collect
Depending on your role and how you use the App, we may collect:
- Account and profile information — such as name, username, user type/role, class or section details, contact details, and profile photo.
- School activity data — such as homework, posts, notices, attendance, marks, schedules, messages, leave requests, appointments, reports, and related attachments or files you upload or view.
- Device and technical information — such as device type, operating system, app version, language preference, and diagnostic logs needed to keep the App working securely.
- Push notification identifiers — device tokens or similar identifiers used to deliver notifications about school updates.
- Files and media you choose to share — such as images, documents, or other attachments submitted through features like homework, posts, messages, or reports.
We do not knowingly collect information beyond what is needed to provide school-related services through the App.
3. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and operate school features within the App
- Authenticate users and manage account access
- Send important school notifications and alerts
- Enable communication between school staff, parents, and students
- Display schedules, academic records, and school content
- Improve App performance, reliability, and security
- Respond to support requests and investigate technical issues
- Meet legal, regulatory, or school administration requirements
4. Push notifications
The App may use a push notification service to deliver alerts (for example, new homework, notices, messages, or reminders). Notification delivery may involve limited device identifiers. You can control notification permissions in your device settings.
5. Permissions the App may request
Depending on the features you use, the App may ask for permission to access:
- Camera or photo library (for profile photos or file uploads)
- Files/documents (for homework and attachments)
- Notifications (for school alerts)
- Network access (to connect to school services)
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without the required permission.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared only as needed to operate the App, including with:
- Authorized school administrators and staff for educational and administrative purposes
- Service providers that help us host, secure, or deliver App services (such as notification delivery), under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations
- Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the school
7. Children’s privacy
The App may be used by students under the supervision of their school and/or parents/guardians. Student accounts and related data are managed according to school policies. Parents/guardians who have questions about a child’s information should contact the school.
8. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide App services, to support school operations, and to comply with legal or administrative requirements. When information is no longer needed, it may be deleted or anonymized according to school and system retention practices.
9. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for notifying the school if you believe your account has been compromised.
